Camp Bayou Spring Open House
Saturday April 16th, 2011 9 AM - 2 PM
Come learn what Camp Bayou is all about! 160 acres of nature -local history, birds, native plants,
eco-systems, gopher tortoises, fishing, hiking, canoeing and more!
Events are FREE!
- Join in a Natural Gardener's Class
- Visit the Worm's Way Exhibit to learn about natural composting
- Take a Golf cart or Walking Tour through the trails
- See our native american campsite and learn about native american living
- Throw a fishing line in off our new dock down by the cabins
- Launch your kayak or canoe for a paddle through the Little Manatee River
- Learn about the history of the "Giants Fishing Cabins" being restored at Camp Bayou
LUNCH in the Pavilion: $5 per person (hotdogs, hamburgers, soft drinks, chips)
Lunch can be purchased at the Pavilion by all guests.

Mission:To preserve a sample of Florida’s original habitats,in the Little Manatee River Watershed, and to use this Center for the purpose of promoting appreciation and understanding of our natural resources and of our local culture and history.
Size: Camp Bayou is a 160 acre nature preserve located in the middle of the Little Manatee River system and proximate to the Cockroach Bay Aquatic Preserve and Tampa Bay.
Funding is financially supported thorough local grants, donations, membership, and dedicated volunteers.
Camp Bayou was an RV campground back in the 1970s. It is now publicly owned through Hillsborough County's Environmental Lands Acquistion and Protection Program (ELAPP), and managed for public use by the RCDF.
